Shamanism

Shamans have been present in most native cultures throughout history in the capacity of healer and guide, responsible for the overall welfare of the group. A Shaman is one who is able to access needed information and perform healing rites through entering into a trance state and invoking animal allies and spirit guides to facilitate healing. The altered state is induced through drumming, chanting, prayer and offerings to the spirits.
The practice of modern shamanism is derived from these ancient traditions, concerning itself with "dis-ease" of the soul, such as power of "soul loss", manifesting in depression, anxiety and a host of physical challenges. Shamanism encompasses the realm of the natural elements and facilitates healing through practices that have been in existence for thousands of years.
