SUMMARY:Sand Mandala Opening Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:An intention-setting ceremony involving prayer/chanting and explanation of the significance of mandala making precedes the initial drawing of the outline for this impermanent work of art\, to be made over 5 days out of colorful sand! Join us for the beginning of a spectacular event\, to listen\, observe\, and celebrate the upcoming 5-day sand mandala ceremony. \nCome view the sand mandala from July 31st – August 4th in the making from 12:30 pm – 6:30 pm and only until 4:30 pm August 4th at Faith Presbyterian Church \nThis year’s theme of the mandala is World Peace\, in which various religious symbols from around the world are incorporated into this modern design. Come witness the meditative process of making this colorful 5′ x 5′  “sand painting”\, made with love\, prayers\, and years of training. Toward the end of each day\, the monks will offer closing prayers to finish their day’s work. (This work of sacred art will be destroyed ceremoniously at the closing ceremony on August 4th.) \nNo reservation required for this event.
