Fall Foraging & Acorn Processing Workshop
November 21 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
We will kick things off by touring a beautifully biodiverse 10-acre food forest. We’ll learn the identification, medicinal, edible and ecological benefits of many wild edibles that you can find in fall.
Then we’ll shift our focus to a wild edible that’s quite prolific in the fall…. the mighty acorn! We will discuss the different types of acorns, their specific tastes, nutritional content, and how to identify them. In the hands-on portion of the workshop, we’ll explore a variety of sorting, cracking, separating, leaching, cooking, and preservation methods. Participants will leave with recipes.
